Rivervalley Tech Collective is a group of people in the Valley working to introduce Open Source technologies to the non-profit and small business sectors. Using Open Source software provides for more secure, flexible, and cost effective solutions than off-the-shelf commercial software. This allows non-profits and small business to be on the cutting edge of technology without having to pay the prohibitively high costs associated with commercial software.  River Valley Tech Collective is a mix of people from around the Pioneer Valley area with a passion for these technologies and the philosophy of Open Source.

Using these tools any group can benefit from computer technology to help:

  • Raise money online
  • Raise awareness
  • Organize and contact supporters or customers
  • Send mass emails
  • Use a shared calendar and address book
  • Drastically reduce the costs associated with office software
  • Use low energy computers that cost $140 but run as fast as high-priced computers
